# Summarize a book

> Get a one-page summary or chapter-by-chapter notes from a book's own text, with the cost shown first.

Summaries are written from the book's text, read from its EPUB or PDF through Calibre.

## Before you start

- Calibre's Content Server is on.
- Model Hub has a provider.

## A one-page summary

1. Open the book's note.
2. Run **Books & Shelves: Summarize this book (one page)**.
3. Read the estimate, then confirm.

A book too long for the model is digested chapter by chapter first, then summarized.

To do a whole shelf, open the shelf and run **Summarize the books on this shelf**.

## Chapter notes

Run **Books & Shelves: Write chapter notes for this book**. Each chapter gets its own notes. A quote is kept only when it is found word for word in the book.

## What to know

- There is an estimate before every run.
- A call billed well above its listed price stops the run.
- Undo puts an earlier summary back.
